accused cop killer dorner has taken another deadly turn. after a week on the run police say suspect matching dorner description was involved in a shot out with deputy. >> one of the deputy was injured and unfortunately one of our deputy passed away as a result of his injuries. >>reporter: suspect spotted tuesday afternoon in the san bernardino mountains. several miles from where dorner burned out truck was found. authorities say he first held 2 women hostages in the home including jay hilton wife. >> he tied broke in tied up and stole the car. they are okay as far as we know they are fine. >>reporter: one of the hostages untied herself and called 911. but when deputy caught up to the suspect he abandoned the stolen car and fled on foot leading to somewhat out. tense moments of gun fir were caught on the air during the live report on kcbs. st that's when authorities say the suspect barricaded himself

officers pull back. when the scene first started unfolding this afternoon we saw hundreds an hundreds of officers flock to the region. according to the witnesses the 2 women who claim that they were tied up the, they say the man looked a lot like christopher dorner. according to the department of fish and game the agents chasing the suspect who looks like dorner they also said it looked like dorner they would identify him as dorner. right now everyone is being cautious because until they get a positive i.d. things they don't want to overreact just in case dorner may still be at large but does appear like everything we have been getting this could be in fact dorner. >> seems that way. ask you about the cabin when it caught fir today and then reports there was a gunshot shortly after that time or at some point before. what do you know about why the fire or how the fire started. >>reporter: that's what we are trying to find out dan. you are correct. this is what we hear in los angeles watching all the information come in.
